Raising awareness among employees and employers of the need to play sports in the workplace was the aim of an entire day devoted to this theme by the Inter-company Occupational Health and Prevention Service of Tarn-et-Garonne (SMTI 82).

Under the Rural Master marquee, several partner companies and associations had set up activities for visitors, including many employees. Round tables and conferences livened up the day, including one in the early afternoon with rugby player Alexandre Lapandry, a former international and Clermont-Ferrand player who had to end his career at the age of 33 after a serious stroke. Hence the title of his talk: “The Art of Bouncing Back”. Business leaders shared their experience of good practices implemented in their respective companies.

In the preamble, Francis Causse, president of SMTI 82, recalled the missions and implications of the association. “The SMTI 82, bringing together 4,345 members for 44,000 employees monitored, wishes to make its contribution to the building of sporting practice which preserves the health of employees and optimizes life in the workplace.” And to list the benefits for employees: better physical shape, reduction of stress, prevention of musculoskeletal risks, improvement of concentration and productivity.

For companies, the benefits are also there: sport strengthens relationships between colleagues, promotes mutual assistance and reduces absenteeism. And Francis Causse concludes. “In short, sport in the workplace is a win-win situation for all stakeholders involved.”
