Vigilance on Manche roads. The Department informs Wednesday November 20, 2024 that “Weather forecasts predict temperatures near freezing for the next three nights”. Technical services are expecting icy conditions in the eastern part of the center and south of the department, and even snow on Friday morning. A penalty was therefore put in place for the nights of November 20 to 22. From Thursday, the site inforoutes50.manche.fr will allow you to consult traffic conditions in real time.
2,000 tons of salt used last winter
However, the 2024-2025 winter service plan for the Department of Manche will not begin until Friday, November 29. Until March 3, 2025, more than 300 agents will be available 24 hours a day to make the roads more passable in bad weather. Last winter, nearly 2,000 tonnes of salt were used on the Manche road network; the Department can store up to 7,320.
