Morocco occupies 8th global rank in the 2025 Climate Performance Index (CCPI). Leader in Africa and the Arab world, the Kingdom gains one place compared to the 2024 edition.
It is ahead of several pioneering countries in terms of decarbonization such as Germany (16th position), Norway (9th) and Sweden (11th).th). The ranking is dominated by Denmark in 4th position, since the first three places are vacant.

In this report presented Wednesday in Baku, on the sidelines of (COP29), the experts welcome the Kingdom’s actions in terms of sustainable development and the reduction of greenhouse gases (GHG). They also retain the commitment to reach 52% of renewable energies in the national energy mix by 2030.
The CCPI evaluates countries according to four criteria, namely greenhouse gas emissions, renewable energy, energy use and climate policy.

It is an independent mechanism that examines the performance of climate change policies in 63 countries, including individual European Union member states as well as the EU as a whole (27 countries).
