Morocco-Guinea Economic Forum Held in Conakry

The Guinean capital Conakry hosted the Morocco-Guinea Economic Forum on Monday, which brought together prominent business figures from both countries as well as members of the Guinean government.

This Forum was organized on the occasion of a Moroccan prospecting mission to Guinea, initiated from June 22 to 27 by the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region in partnership with its Guinean counterpart and the Chamber of the Casablanca-Settat region.

This mission aims to explore the vast opportunities for cooperation and investment between the two countries, promote trade between Morocco and Guinea and highlight promising sectors and innovative projects.

Chairing the proceedings of the Forum, the Guinean Minister of Trade, Industry and Small and Medium Enterprises, Diaka Sidibé, affirmed that this Forum demonstrates the common will of the two countries to strengthen historical ties and explore new opportunities for cooperation between the two nations, emphasizing the strong ties of fraternity and mutual respect.

The minister recalled that Guinean-Moroccan cooperation covers different sectors (science, training, culture, etc.), noting that the Morocco-Guinea Economic Forum represents a crucial step in the commitment to developing lasting partnerships and promoting growth in both countries.

For his part, the Moroccan ambassador to Guinea, Issam Taib, stressed that this meeting gives new impetus to the multidimensional economic partnership which links the two countries, specifying that the partnership is several decades old, finding its source in the deeply pan-African spirit as well as in the attachment of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to the promotion of South-South cooperation.

The ambassador invited Moroccan economic operators to take advantage of the excellence of economic relations and the geographical proximity of the two countries, to improve trade relations and initiate sustainable economic growth.

For his part, Mamadou Baldé, president of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Crafts of Guinea, specified that this event is part of the continuity of the efforts deployed and the fruitful exchanges with his counterparts in Rabat and Casablanca during of the Economic Forum in Dakhla, and materializes the common commitment to boost economic relations between the two countries for better development of economic potential.

Mr. Baldé specified that economic cooperation between the two countries has experienced remarkable growth in recent years with regard to trade and investments.

For his part, Hassan Sakhi, president of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services (CCIS) of the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region, praised the quality of relations between Morocco and Guinea, emphasizing on Morocco’s commitment to South-South cooperation.

He stressed the Moroccan side’s desire to further strengthen bilateral cooperation ties in different sectors, stimulate investments and develop support actions for businesses, calling for a rapprochement between the Guinean and Moroccan business communities.

During this Forum, a cooperation agreement was signed for the establishment of a Conakry-Casablanca maritime line, with a view to facilitating trade.

Two other cooperation agreements were also signed between the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Crafts of Guinea and the CCIS of the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region, and with the CCIS of the Casablanca-Settat region, with a view to strengthening collaboration and the establishment of support programs for businesses in the agricultural, industrial and service sectors.

Members of the Moroccan delegation taking part in the economic mission were received on Tuesday by the Guinean Prime Minister, Bah Oury.
