Off the coast of the community of Little River, about 45 kilometres south of Ingonish, Nova Scotia, 14-year-old Finley Campbell and his grandfather caught a blue lobster while fishing Saturday.

I looked at him and he [son grand-père] was holding a blue lobster in his handssaid Finley Campbell.

A rare catch

One in two million lobsters is blue. This color is explained by a genetic mutation that causes the lobster to produce an excessive amount of a particular protein.

The young fisherman said he was hoping to find something exciting on this fishing trip, but he didn’t expect to see and hold such an exceptional species of lobster.

When I got on the boat, I wanted to catch something great.sourit Campbell.

The young man said that in 50 years on the water, his grandfather saw a blue lobster for the first time. On the other hand, he has already seen white and purple lobsters.

The fishermen eventually released their find back into the water in an effort to protect a rare specimen.

Obviously, this is a rare individual, but we won’t keep them. He’s too rare for us to keep him.added Finley Campbell.
