The obstetrics department of the Sainte-Anne-des-Monts hospital is resuming service a few hours earlier than planned.

The Integrated Health and Social Services Centre (CISSS) of Gaspésie had announced an overdraft at the beginning of the week, due to a lack of nursing staff. This disruption of service began at midnight on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday. The situation was originally supposed to continue until midnight on Friday.

However, in a press release sent to the media on Thursday afternoon, the management of the CISSS Gaspésie, however, indicated that the service was resuming in the obstetrics department. The regional health network specifies that it was able to recover the necessary staff a few hours earlier when the service had been interrupted due to an unforeseen absence.

This is the fourth obstetric discovery to affect the Sainte-Anne-des-Monts hospital since the beginning of 2024.

During the discovery, expectant mothers are asked to go to the Matane hospital to give birth. As is the case every time such a situation occurs in a health facility in the region, a safety corridor has been set up for this purpose.
