It's a sigh of relief in the west of Eure. On November 12, the Évreux judicial court authorized the takeover by SDOMODE (household waste destruction union in western Eure) of the Iter'Action sites in Menneval and Pont-Audemer. The third site in Beuzeville is entrusted to Étre et Boulot (Honfleur, Calvados). SDOMODE had applied to take over the activity of the Menneval resource center, the largest in Normandy, of which it owns the premises. He had entrusted its management to Iter'Action PAREC.
Relieved employees and hiring
The future becomes clearer for almost 200 employees on integration contracts. After being hired under an integration contract, Kimberley Vannier became, since October 22, a sales supervisor at the resource center: “I did training as an integration advisor which I validated and SDOMODE offered me a position as a supervisor”, rejoices, smiling, the young woman. A relief for the one who was legitimately worried when the Iter'Action Parec association for which she worked was placed in receivership.
“We are more serene”, also confides Baptiste Foureau, one of the three supervisors, “because they trust us”. Twenty employees have already been rehired by SDOMODE before new hires in December to ultimately reach around forty full-time equivalents, “practically all the employees who had left”, explains Baptiste Foureau for whom “The main work is reintegration. We bring people and furniture back to life at the same time“. “We have already hired executives and integration advisors,” for his part, Jean-Pierre Delaporte, the president of SDOMODE, advances.
A collective for a solution
“The State realized that the association which held these integration contracts (Iter’Action, Editor’s note) had committed embezzlement and wanted to put an end to it” explains Alaric Malves, secretary general of the Eure prefecture. The prefectural services withdrew its approval from Iter'Action, which could therefore no longer benefit from subsidized contracts and financial support from the State, 3.5 million euros per year. In four months, a solution was found to 152 jobs under integration contracts (contracts at 25 hours per week) with the new Approval for Workshops and Integration Projects entrusted for one year to SDOMODE.
“The Department, with the State and France Travail and the DDETS (Departmental Directorate of Employment, Labor and Solidarity, Editor’s note) carried out a sort of audit of the situation and only one thing obsessed us: the employees and especially our RSA beneficiaries”, explains Stéphanie Auger, vice-president of the Eure departmental council in charge of employment, integration and the social and solidarity economy. The elected official underlines the important work of France Travail, in particular the Bernay and Pont-Audemer agencies.
“We don’t leave anyone on the side of the road”
Christophe Birette returns the favor, noting “the enormous support work of the Department”. The departmental director of France Travail in Eure does not hide his satisfaction: “Everyone came together under the aegis of Prefect Babre and we all rolled up our sleeves. A solution has been found or will be found for each person.” Former Iter'Action employees have been or will be offered integration contracts or traditional contracts.
The Pont-Audemer and Beuzeville sites taken over
No one had come forward to take over the textile sorting center and the Iter'Action second-hand clothes store in Pont-Audemer. SDOMODE will take charge of this from January 1, 2025, after having been requested by the State and local elected officials. 75 integration jobs in Norman Venice. “We bought the premises, the vehicles and the machines” advances Jean-Pierre Delaporte, the president of SDOMODE. “Clothes from our 17 recycling centers will be sorted, washed and put back on sale” he specifies, in Beuzeville but also at the Menneval resource center.
SMODODE is not taking over the third Iter'Action site in Eure, in Beuzville. Étre et Boulot, in Honfleur (Calvados) will take over the activity of Ecospace, a second-hand furniture and clothing store. Thanks to a revitalization agreement, “Etre et Boulot was allocated 33,300 euros to enable them not to have an operating deficit and to be able to present a file with already a cash flow which would make it possible to finance a certain number of jobs” explains Alaric Malves. An assessment will be made in one year before the departmental employment and integration commission. If it is positive, the approval of SDOMODE (which will become Precoval in January 2025) could be extended for five years.
