Despite the winter weather, those present paid, on Sunday, November 17, a vibrant tribute to the victims of the English bomber crash that occurred in the Consigny forest, 82 years earlier.
In the presence of eight flags, the ceremony began at the memorial stone with an appeal to the dead for freedom, followed by English and French anthems. Jean-Marie Séclier laid a wreath on behalf of the Mémoires 52 club.
Then, the procession went to the cemetery to pay their respects in front of the graves of the aviators. Two other wreaths were laid in front of the graves: the first by Roland Belbézier, departmental delegate of French Remembrance, and Robert Jeanny, president of the canton of Andelot, the second by Laurence Robert-Dehault, deputy for Haute-Marne.
In the multipurpose room, Robert Jeanny thanked the authorities present as well as gendarmerie major Baillot, Robert Fontaine and Gaston Faipoux, Veterans Affairs (CATM) of the canton of Saint-Blin, François Barret, president of the canton of Bourmont, as well as the mayor of Bourdons-sur-Rognon.
Three French Souvenir medals were presented by Laurence Robert-Dehault to Antoine Cabellot (bronze), Alain Routier (vermeil) and Nicole Kintzler (vermeil).
