“It’s the fall event, which allows us to wait until summer with the Django-Reinhardt festival, but also a way to keep it alive throughout the year…” The sentence is signed by Karen Forestier, the director of festival Django-Reinhardtwhich is organizing a new edition of the Jazz at the Theater festivalfrom Thursday November 21 to Sunday November 24, 2024, at the municipal theater of Fontainebleau (Seine-et-Marne).

Four days and concerts not to be missed in Fontainebleau

For the first time, the event is scheduled over four days with seven concerts and a podium dedicated to young talents (free entry Saturday November 23 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.). “Offering a date on Sunday also allows us to reach a more family-oriented audience and introduce them to another musical universe,” she continues.

20h. This is the Joe Webb Trio which will launch the edition at 8 p.m.… His name is not unknown to you since he participated in the festival last June with drummer Snorre Kirk’s group. The pianist returns to Fontainebleau as leader for Jazz at the theater! He will present

“Described as one of the most captivating jazz players on the young British scene, and with prestigious collaborations, he is now devoting himself to his own Music,” say the organizers. Between raw energy and jazz tradition, it arouses enthusiasm internationally.

21h30. The public will then be able to (re)discover Stéphane Wrembel, the guitar legend… born in Fontainebleau. “Master of the Django Reinhardt style, he refined his art with the gypsies in France before obtaining his diploma from Berklee College of Music,” recall the organizers.

Prolific, he has 17 albums to his credit, including the latest, Django New Orleansignited criticism. He also released a triptych with Jean-Michel Pilc, piano virtuoso… An opportunity not to be missed to discover “one of the most creative improvisers in gypsy jazz”.

20h. The RP Quartet is a master in the art and manner of interpretation, both in terms of the impressive nature of its arrangements and the originality of its repertoire. “Music that is both playful and demanding, which stands out from most jazz groups

21h30. : Australian Sarah McKenzie started piano at nine

years… She sang for Michael Bublé and released her first album, Don’t Tempt Mein

2011. His second album, Close Your Eyespropelled her onto the international scene. His album We Could Be Loversreleased in 2014, will be critically acclaimed, then Paris in the Rain in 2017 before touring prestigious festivals.

His performances filmed during the pandemic, on the sidelines of the album release Secrets of my heartsin 2019, will be viewed millions of times on the Internet. 20h . : Sophye Soliveau is a singer, harpist and choir director. From childhood, she was rocked by African-American music, from R’n’b to soul, through gospel… which she will supplement with classical teaching. “His first album, Initiationis the result of the diversion that nourishes his improvisations, the search for healing and the learning of freedom,” explain the organizers.

The public will be able to discover the synergy between his voice and the harp, which come together against a backdrop of aerial choirs and a rhythm with a precious and subtle groove coming to magnify an original repertoire with deeply inspired soul.

21h30. Discover El Comite, a Cuban collective, made up of seven virtuoso musicians, true all-stars of the international music scene. Pianists, rhythm section: the concert promises an unforgettable show. Since 2017, these artists have played with the greatest: from Ray Lema to Esperanza Spalding then collaborating with notable figures in Cuban music like Chucho Valdés and Buena Vista Social Club!

Their second album, Carouselcelebrates musical diversity with eleven titles, including nine original compositions and two daring covers: Wonder wall of Oasis and Fame by Rosalía and The Weeknd. “They are witnesses to the rich and varied Cuban musical heritage,” promise the organizers.

17h.Discover Stella Cole – and her contagious enthusiasm – who promises a journey through time… Her viral videos on social networks testify to her irresistible charm and her ability to discover the wonders of Great American Songbook to all generations.

Her first album covers classics with a wide diversity of arrangements: from Barbra Streisand (When the Sun Comes Out), Judy Garland (The Boy Next

Door et Over the Rainbow) or Billie Eilish (My Future) et Audrey Hepburn (Moon River). For her many young fans, these classics become songs by Stella Cole… who with her captivating voice and her unique interpretation, succeeds in sublimating classics.
