The Delphinian guests will remain in the La Rochelle trawler basin at least until the end of the weekend.

Arriving on the evening of Tuesday, June 25, three young dolphins took up residence in the trawlers’ basin in La Rochelle.

This Thursday morning, the Pélagis observatory, the marine nature park and the marina of La Rochelle joined forces to help the cetaceans get out of the basin. In vain. was in vain.

Three young dolphins have taken up residence in the port of La Rochelle since Tuesday June 25

A little after 9:30 a.m., with three kayaks and two boats, the “rescuers” tried to direct the dolphins towards the passage of the lock at the exit of the basin. The technique used is to produce unpleasant sounds to encourage them to follow the correct direction. But the sounds produced by the strokes of paddles and tubes on the boats did not have the expected effect. Indeed, the matter is not as easy as leading a flock of sheep: “Two years ago, the same scenario was successful in a few dozen minutes,” specifies one of the members of the Pélagis team.

Given their young age, the cetaceans have probably moved away from a group of adults. We will have to wait until the end of the weekend for another attempt.
