The spread of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in Lebanon is greatly feared. France said to itself, Thursday June 27, “extremely concerned by the seriousness of the situation in Lebanon”noting the intensification “dramatically” violence on the border with Israel. Christophe Lemoine, deputy spokesman for the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, called “all parties exercise the greatest restraint”. This statement comes as Canada and Germany this week called on their nationals to leave Lebanon as quickly as possible. Some 23,000 French people live in this country. Follow our live stream.

Israel maintains ambiguity on Lebanon. “We have the capacity to bring Lebanon back to the Stone Age, but we do not want to do it. (…) We do not want a war,” assured Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. However, his government is preparing “for any scenario”. “Hezbollah understands very well that we can inflict enormous damage on Lebanon if a war is launched”he threatened on Thursday, at the end of a multi-day visit to Washington.

A “potentially apocalyptic” extension of the conflict. An extension of the war to Lebanon that Israel is waging against Hamas would be “potentially apocalyptic”according to Martin Griffiths, head of humanitarian affairs at the UN. “I see this as the spark that will ignite the powder”, he still estimated. In the aftermath of the October 7 attack, pro-Iranian Hezbollah in Lebanon opened a front with Israel in support of Hamas. Since then, exchanges of fire in border areas have been almost daily.

New bombings in Gaza and Lebanon. Bombings in different areas of the Gaza Strip took place overnight from Wednesday to Thursday, while in Lebanon, five people were injured in an Israeli airstrike on a building in Nabatieh, according to the official Lebanese agency ANI .

Attacks in Syria and Yemen. Two people were killed in an Israeli strike near Damascus (Syria), the official Syrian agency Sana announced, citing a military source. In Yemen, the United States claimed to have destroyed a “radar” Houthi rebels, allies of Hamas, who threaten international maritime traffic in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
