Hydro-Québec steps up maintenance of its network in Saint-Lazare

In collaboration with the City of Saint-Lazare, Hydro-Québec has established a rigorous action plan to reduce the number and duration of outages. This work includes not only targeted vegetation control interventions near the distribution and transportation network, but also repairs of priority equipment and modifications to the configuration of the electrical network.

Indeed, in the spring of 2024, Hydro-Québec received several complaints regarding the frequency and duration of outages; outages mainly caused by adverse weather conditions that affected vegetation near the power grid. .

Thus, in order to significantly improve the quality of service, Hydro-Québec will carry out more selective work this year to clear incompatible trees located near the electrical network. Pruning work will also be carried out in certain areas.

To carry out tree felling and clearing work, it is essential that the owners of the trees to be felled give authorization to Hydro-Québec teams. No tree may be felled without the permission of the owners.

Promote the planting of compatible species

Although this work is underway, further outages could occur due to weather events. The likelihood of outages increases when mature trees overhang distribution lines, as is the case in Saint-Lazare.

In order to prevent such outages, we encourage you to plant species compatible with the network and conducive to maintaining biodiversity. The complete list of compatible trees is available at: arbors.hydroquebec.com.
