Canal Seine- Europe: jobs galore for RSA recipients
Canal Seine-Nord Europe: jobs galore for RSA recipients

The Seine- Europe Canal construction site is soon arriving in the North. Hundreds of jobs will be available, in around thirty different professions. Notice to RSA recipients: there is surely a job for you!

The Seine-Nord Europe Canal construction site is progressing well, and will soon start in Cambrésis. The Department and the MEDEF (Movement of Companies of ) are already mobilized to introduce RSA beneficiaries to the vast range of public works professions in which positions will be filled.

Several thousand jobs to be filled

In Hauts-de-France, the construction of the canal will generate the creation of thousands of direct and indirect jobs. Our objective is to make Northerners aware of the fact that the public works sector is recruiting a lot and that these professions, contrary to what people think, are very well paid. You can also improve your skills and build a career there, even beyond the Seine-Nord Europe Canal construction site, explains Jean-Yves Dareaud, director of the Artois-Cambrésis territory at the Société du Canal Seine-Nord Europe.

Nearly thirty professions, open to all, will be involved in this major project:

  • hydraulic excavator operator
  • dozer driver for earthmoving
  • Trax track loader operator
  • wheel loader driver
  • grader operator
  • compactor driver
  • Scrap scraper driver
  • articulated rigid dump truck driver
  • mobile crane operator
  • crane driver
  • road driver
  • engineer of works of art
  • construction assistant
  • civil engineering scrap metal worker
  • metalwork builder
  • civil engineering team leader
  • road and various network constructor
  • pipeline network builder
  • VRD team leader (various road networks)
  • road builder
  • welder on site

  • machine mechanic helper.

Recruitment, training: the site is prepared in advance

Over the past two years, around sixty training courses financed by the Hauts-de-France Region, particularly for RSA recipients (specialized workers, pipeline workers, formworkers, etc.), have been completed. These people were able to join companies while waiting for construction to begin.

The Department, in conjunction with the MEDEF which has mobilized numerous employers, makes it possible to encourage vocations among people new to the field of public works, which is very enriching.

This is particularly the case for Stevens. This resident of Caudry has often worked in the fields of logistics and cleaning. At the Maison Nord Emploi in , he was able to discover the different professions linked to the Seine-Nord Europe Canal construction site as well as the training and employment opportunities. I don't know the public works professions, but why not me?he asks himself. Especially since he was able to first learn how to operate some construction machines, using simulators.

So why not you too? For any information regarding job opportunities linked to the Seine-Nord Europe Canal, contact the Maison Nord Emploi closest to you, or go to the Maison Nord Emploi du Cambrésis, 5 rue d'Alger in Cambrai . Tel: + 33 3 59 73 73 59

A hike to discover the future canal and its job opportunities

On the occasion of Réussir Sans Attendre week, organized this year from November 8 to 13, 25 RSA beneficiaries met in Moeuvres for a hike along the Canal du Nord. They were accompanied by the Maison Nord Emploi du Cambrésis and representatives of the Société du Canal Seine-Nord Europe. An original way to discover all the issues surrounding the future canal: the construction site itself, but also water management, environmental issues, canal maintenance, etc. At the same time, a job dating event was organized in Cambrai in the presence of around fifteen employers.
