The town hall of Saint-Étienne presented this Thursday, June 27 the program of the Book Festival, which will take place from October 11 to 13. This 38th edition is sponsored by the playwright Philippe Besson, author of a latest novel, entitled One summer eveningThe Mots en Scènes festival, dedicated to live performance during the festival, is sponsored by the novelist Marie Pavlenko.
Star chef Pierre Gagnaire presents his latest book
He will present his autobiography peppered with cooking recipes at the Saint-Étienne Book Festival. Pierre Gagnaire, the starred chef from Loire, will be the guest of honor at the festival. Author of around ten works, he will come to talk about his latest, A life in the kitchen.
Eight literary prizes
Two hundred authors will be present during these three days of festivities, to highlight adult, youth and adolescent literature, but also comics or the human sciences. This is less than in previous years, to provide them with a more comfortable welcome justifies the town hall. The budget of the festival remains approximately the same compared to the previous edition, assures the town hall: it cost 765,000 euros in 2023.
This year, the party is taking place in several emblematic places in the city center: Place Jean-Jaurès, Place de l’Hôtel de Ville, Place Dorian, Place Chavanelle and the Tarentaize district, where the Comète performance hall is located. This is where the inauguration evening of the Book Festival will take place on Friday October 11.
