The American brand Patagonia offers to give a second life to clothing damaged by time in the Natural Games village in Millau.

The down jacket of Anthony, a young father from Millavois, has lived. Quite good in fact and kept him warm for many winters. Time has taken its toll. It has a few tears here, a damaged zipper. This Thursday, first day of the Natural games, although the weather is not suitable for wearing this comforting jacket, it is in its bag and ends up in the Worn wear trailer.

A concept from the United States

The English-sounding event was born 10 years ago and travels all over France depending on events. “The concept comes from the United States, like the brand, presents Thomas Pitet. The goal is twofold: firstly to repair clothing free of charge, of all brands, but also to raise public awareness about consumption patterns and send the message that worn clothing should not be thrown away.”

Anaïs seamstress for 10 years for the brand

Once it arrived at the stand, Anthony’s down jacket went directly into the hands of Anaïs, the seamstress who has worked for the brand for 10 years. “We can do around thirty repairs a day. But if we only do five or six, it’s not a failure for us. The goal is really to raise awareness among the people around us. We talk to more than world than what we repair.”

In the trailer, with its very American style, there is no shortage of equipment. The sewing machine is hot, the spools of thread are within reach and the drawers are overflowing with fabrics of all kinds. “This year, we are on the Worn Wear Tour Climb (editor’s note: climbing), that’s why we are stopping at the Natural Games, continues Thomas Pitet. It’s an event that fits with the brand’s values.” So until the end of the festival, on a first come, first served basis, it is possible to give a second life to your belongings after a very sporty winter or before a summer which is about to be so.
