Rain, then snow, gusts of wind which blew at 114 km/h near Epenoy in Doubs, during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday reports Météo Franc-Comtoise. Winter is here. This morning on the roads, very wet snow slowed down traffic conditions. We counted between 1 to 5 cm from around 800/1000 meters.
In Doubs, last night, firefighters intervened following strong gusts of wind which caused numerous trees to fall onto the road, which generated 135 interventions for the services of the Department of Roads and Infrastructure and town halls. Emergency services were also requested four times for traffic accidents. The report shows four minor injuries.
Among our Swiss neighbors in La Chaux de Fonds, where many cross-border workers go in the morning to work, white was also the norm when they woke up.
Météo France indicates that the cold will worsen on Thursday in the north. Snow accumulations in the Alps, in mid-mountains, will be significant and will require particular attention.
The regions going from Lower Normandy, to the Pays de la Loire, via the Center and Burgundy to Franche-Comté currently seem the most privileged to observe a small layer of snow on the ground.
Wednesday
In the afternoon, clearings are expected in Franche-Comté, when small flakes should fall in the Jura. At the end of the afternoon, showers of sleet should sweep the region around 400 meters above sea level and only snow from 500 meters where 1 to 5 cm could fall in an hour. This could be 10 cm from 1000 meters altitude, Météo-Franc-Comtoise alert. This could cause traffic difficulties in the evening.
THURSDAY
A more significant snow episode is expected on Thursday, November 21. A white coat, between 1 and 5 cm, could develop according to Météo-Franc-Comtoise in the plain and up to 8 to 10 cm in Belfort-Montbéliard. Please note, however, that these forecasts could change over time.
Friday
The wake-up call could be blank across the whole of Franche-Comté with a depth of snowbetween 1 and 5cm in the plain, or even up to 8-10cm in Belfort-Montbéliard5 and 15 cm from 500 to 900 meters above sea level compared to 15 to 25 cm above 1000/1100 meters indicates Météo-Franc-Comtoise. But things could change further.
