On the quays of Orléans: the outdated moped makes its starlet again

The dynamic Chaplain association Mecatland is offering a new “Passion mob” meeting, Sunday June 30, at the Quai du Roi. The gathering of old mobs and motorcycles could attract up to a hundred. Whose bike?

Sunday morning, June 30, the Mecatland association, based in La Chapelle-Saint-Mesmin, is offering a new “Passion mob” meeting around mopeds (mopeds, Solex, etc.), scooters and motorcycles, but, be careful, ” around old models”, prior to the 2000s.

“Now,” Christian Champion from Mecatland adds, “we are not going to kick out those who come with a more recent model. We know how to remain flexible…” Especially since the meeting took place, as always, outside, at the edge of the Loire, at the Quai du Roi.

New: come and find out about the new regulations

So, on Sunday, between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., the friendly club with 120 members hopes for “between 60 and 100 cyclists and motorcycles” on the covered site of the Saturday morning market.

Attendance may be further boosted by this new initiative from the Mecatland association: “We propose to combine the pleasure of the eyes with the need to be well informed”, continues Christian Champion. Well informed, with regard to “the new regulations which came into force in 2024, which, sometimes, take the lead, concerning the technical inspection of our two-wheelers”.

So, on Sunday morning, the club will have an information stand available to bike owners. “Members of the association will be present to answer all questions.” Questions relating to the registration of mopeds (compulsory since 2011), which is evolving at the margins with the obligation of technical inspection, can still be addressed.

Bringing together enthusiasts and the public

For Mecatland, this is about “helping the many owners of two-wheelers in the region to carry out the procedures that have become obligatory”, so that they can ride relaxed behind “on their old ones”.

It remains important not to lose sight of the primary objective of the Sunday morning motorized meetings, “which is to bring together enthusiasts and the curious public around an exhibition of beautiful machines”. A bit outdated, which doesn’t spoil anything…
