Grégory Doucet begins the municipal council with a platform against the far-right this Thursday

Barely started, this Monday’s municipal council takes on the appearance of a platform against the far-right under the leadership of the mayor of Lyon, Grégory Doucet.

“I will call for the far-right to be defeated wherever it risks winning in the second round“, he begins before inviting everyone “to take responsibility to defend our unity and our Republic“.

“Faithful to its title of capital of the resistance, Lyon held firm“, welcomes Grégory Doucet regarding the results of the European elections. A first victory followed by another.

The GUD and three other far-right structures, including the Remparts, were dissolved during the Council of Ministers this Wednesday under the leadership of the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin.

However, Grégory Doucet does not say he is reassured. “We will not lower our vigilance in Lyon because we know that violence can resurface“, he explains.

The latter notably regretted on Wednesday that “the devolution of the property of these organizations has not been pronounced“, which would have allowed “a lasting disorganization of these structures “.

While the far right is gaining ground in France as evidenced by the last European elections, the mayor of Lyon reiterates his support for the New Popular Front which is “the image of the majority that I have the honor of leading in Lyon”. He particularly congratulates his adversaries on the right of the political spectrum who have not “not sold their soul to win an election“.
