Philibert’s house completely destroyed by fire: the Sainte-Rose firefighters did not intervene

This Wednesday, June 26, we shared the sad story of Jean Philibert. This resident of Piton Sainte-Rose lost everything after his house burned down on Monday, June 24. According to our colleagues from the JIR, the Sainte-Rose firefighters did not intervene and the municipality filed a complaint against the SDIS

Information revealed by our colleagues at the JIR. The town hall of Sainte-Rose decided to file a complaint against SDIS 974 after the fire which ravaged Jean-Philibert’s house this Monday, June 24 in Piton Sainte-Rose.

The Sainte-Rose fire crews were unable to intervene in the incident in the absence of a driver authorized to operate their tanker truck. These are therefore the firefighters of Saint-Philippe and Saint-Benoît. This Wednesday during the municipal council of Sainte-Rose, the elected officials of the municipality castigated: “an extremely serious malfunction of the SDIS”.

Our editorial team was able to collect the testimony of the victim after the fire: “When I arrived there, the flames had already devastated my house, I lost everything. Today, I live in an outbuilding near my house, we try to do what we can, but it’s not not simple,” testifies Philibert.”

A fundraiser has been opened to help Jean-Philibert’s family. It reached almost 2,000 euros.

According to the victim, the origin of the fire was accidental.
