Dole. Aquathlon and triathlon: the French Championships for the first time in Dole at the beginning of July

“We have been organizing for a long time a triathlon every yearbut the French Championshipsit’s the first time,” rejoices Patrick Simulaclub president Dole Triathlon. The triathlon will take place on Sunday July 7, at departure from the rowing and kayaking base.

And what’s more, the day before, there will be the French Aquathlon Championship, a sporting event which begins with a race swimming and continues with a running without stopping the stopwatch.

Four categories of young athletes will be represented: the youngest and the youngest, who will have to perform 500m swim followed by 2.5km run on foot, and the cadets and juniors who will swim 1 km and run a distance of 5 km along rue du Général-Bethouart.

THE adults (seniors and masters) will cover the same distances as the latter, but will start rather at the end of the day.

All qualified in the region

“After qualifying races in aquathlon in their regionsthese young people are all qualified to come to Dole,” explains the president. “To register, they must therefore be qualified. Their names are validated by the French Triathlon Federation “, he specifies.

It is in the Doubs that they will swim, turning around the Corniche bridgeand the along the shore that they will run, towards the Commanderie before returning to base.

“There will be quite a few young people from good level. We will receive the future athletes of the French junior team who will be at the Olympic Games in four years! » imagines Patrick Simula.

The triathlon will take place the next day

For the triathlon a route is added bike. “It is not yet defined, because it was to take place in the city, but it must be amended because of the elections: “We don’t want to bother the people who are going to vote,” he explains.

“These are the regional selections: Each region comes with its best runners. It’s the cream of the crop! THE House-Tom will be present: Guadeloupe, Reunion… » The French Triathlon Championship promises to be brilliant.

” Each regional league selected the best, who will come and do the relay race in teams of foureach time composed of two boys and two girls : they will follow each other,” the president said.

The triathlon will bring together young people, i.e. junior, junior, cadet and junior categories. They will have to cover 250 meters by swimming, 6 km by pedaling and will finish their event with 2 km of running.

” They will be 250 in total. For certain cadets and juniors, we will see them in French teams in the future », assure Patrick Simula.

Young people, especially young people

” It’s very oriented on the youth », insists the president. “It’s a choice with the Dole town hall. A dossier has been formed with the town hall and the Grand Dole, without whom nothing would have been possible. At the end, we were concurrence with Angoulême, but we were selected ».
