Make friends

As part of its exhibition “Comics on all levels”, the Center Pompidou is offering a Saturday afternoon look at the practices of comic artists who fight against discrimination based on sexism and racism. “Elles fait la BD” offers introductory workshops to the 9th art, from 15 years old, to transform a situation of sexism experienced into a scenario, but also meetings and debates with authors and cartoonists such as Pénélope Bagieu (“ Culottées”, “California Dreamin’”), Annick Kamgang (“Lucha”), Lisa Mandel (“An Exemplary Year”)… A way to explore this artistic expression by drawing inspiration from one’s own experiences. Once there, you will also be able to go to the museum collections with an entrance ticket to see the exhibition dedicated to the 9th art.

“Elles fait la BD”, on level -1 of the Center Pompidou on June 29 from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m., free entry subject to availability. More information here.

Escape to Greece

At the Pont Neuf, a few steps from Notre-Dame, is the bistronomic restaurant Spiti Sou, which you wouldn’t think from the outside would be in Greece. At least, taste-wise, since here, the Mediterranean experience extends to the cocktails, all Greek. The Spritz, or rather, the “Greek Spritz”, prepared with Mastika and red vermouth or the “Greek Tonik”, a gin seasoned with cucumber and lemon juice will take you off the beaten track. Make way for the dishes designed by the founders of the restaurant, whose numerous trips to Greece since childhood can only guarantee you a Greek escape. All are balanced, light and perfectly dosed. Here, the key touch is the drizzle of olive oil, which is found in a very chocolatey mousse; and citrus, to discover in the Portokalopita (an orange and phyllo cake) or the deconstructed tangerine tart, dipped in a citrus gel and almond crumble. Between the small salads (Greek or beetroot salad) and the zucchini fritters with feta and dill, the starters are so light that we still have room for what comes next. Speaking of the dishes, at Spiti Sou, they are all meant to be shared! Greek ratatouille, grilled whole fish or their famous “fisherman’s pasta”, Orzo pasta with shellfish & crustaceans of the day, Metaxa bisque, and Kozani saffron. Clearly, conviviality, refinement and the Mediterranean are there.

Spiti Sou, 53 quai des Grands Augustins, Paris 6th. Open in the evening from Tuesday to Saturday, from 7 p.m. to midnight. More information here.

To party

This Thursday, June 27, the Scribe Paris Opéra hotel puts on its costume of lights for a wild evening. The reason ? The sixtieth anniversary of the Sofitel brand. To celebrate – as it should – this new candle, the establishment is focusing on the theme “Diamond Jubilee – The Night Gatsby”. The opportunity to go back in time to indulge in the atmosphere of the Roaring Twenties, in the very hotel where Joséphine Baker resided during her Parisian escapades. On the program: music, cocktails and delicious dishes cooked by chef Martin Simolka.

Diamond Jubilee – Gatsby Night at the Sofitel Scribe Opéra, 1 rue Scribe, Paris 9th. Thursday June 27 from 8 p.m. More information and reservations here.

Make a canvas

Following the success of previous editions, the open-air cinema by Jean Imbert is once again taking over the Cour Jardin of the Plaza Athénée, in the 8th arrondissement of the capital. An exceptional event which takes place from June 30 to July 4, in partnership with the MK2 group. The principle ? The French chef and his brigade imagine a tailor-made menu linked to the theme of the feature film projected on the big screen. As for the programming, we find great classics of the seventh as well as cult films such as “The Godfather”, “The Visitors”, “James Bond: Operation Thunder”, “The Dark Knight” and “The Dark Knight”. Good, the Bad and the Ugly.” A delight !

Plaza Cinéma Club at the Plaza Athénée hotel, 25 avenue Montaigne Paris 8th. From June 30 to July 4, 2024, from 8:30 p.m. Reservations required and limited places.
