Around a hundred guided tours and activities this summer in the Clermont Auvergne Volcans region

The brand new Clermont Auvergne Volcans tourist area highlights its cultural and heritage assets. This summer again, for tourists and residents alike, it is offering a program full of events.

There are of course strong entities that attract thousands of tourists and locals alike. They are called Panoramique des Dômes, L’Aventure Michelin, Vulcania, the Volcan de Lemptégy and the Grotte de la pierre de Volvic, the Archaeological Museum of the Battle of Gergovie, the Château de la Bâtisse, Studio 120 and the Chouette Parc, the metropolitan museums, the textile biennial-FITE, Europavox, L’ASM Expérience, the Hôtel Fontfreyde-photographic center, Les Contre-Plongées. Faced with this remarkable block that makes the brand new tourist territory Clermont Auvergne Volcans a flagship destination of the department, more than a hundred guided tours and activities will be offered this summer, in the 48 municipalities that make it up, by the tourist office.

On January 1st, Clermont Auvergne Volcans was born: do you know what it is?

Flash tours

From July 6 to September 15, daily guided tours can be discovered in Clermont-Ferrand and its Metropolis, with particular emphasis on the two historic centers of Clermont and Montferrand. For visitors in a hurry, lightning tours (1 hour) are available to discover the secrets of the emblematic Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption cathedral and the Notre-Dame-du-Port basilica, the jewel of Romanesque art listed as a UNESCO world heritage site on the paths of Santiago de Compostela.

THE GOOD DEAL. The Clermont Pass 48 hours or 72 hours, to visit at your own pace while saving money. 48-hour pass: free access to the Panoramique des Dômes, the Michelin Adventure, a museum in Clermont Auvergne Métropole and a free guided tour of the tourist office. 72-hour pass: addition of two free sites among the following four: the archaeological museum of the Battle of Gergovie, the Lemptégy Volcano, the ASM Experience (excluding the stadium visit) and the Volvic stone cave.

Character

Further south, the Petites Cités de caractère – La Sauvetat, Saint-Saturnin, Vic-le-Comte – are revealed all summer long through fun and original visits: dramatized visits in the Renaissance city of Vic-le-Comte; humorous visits to the heart of the village fort of La Sauvetat; but also torchlight visits and traditional visits, to immerse yourself in the history and heritage of these three towns with rural charm. These visits are led by tour guides approved by the Ministry of Culture.

At the water !

When it comes to nature, there’s room for adventure. Many family events are offered: relive the heyday of the gold rush with “gold panning and mineralogy”, learn to survive in the great outdoors with “The Robinsons of the volcanoes”, explore “the wild fauna and flora of the mountains”… Fishing activities in Aydat and on the banks of the Allier, climbing in Cournols and guided walks on Lake Aydat on a water pedal are also on the programme, for a nature and dynamic holiday. Other activities, known as the Blue Flag, combining environmental education activities and fun activities, will also be in place at Lake Aydat.

All of the information. At the offices of Clermont-Ferrand (place de la Victoire), Royat-Chamalières (3, place Allard) or Aydat (boulevard du Lac-Sauteyras). All the information on clermontauvergnevolcans.com
