They are small, they are everywhere, they are powerful. Although they are not easily revealed to our eyes, micro-organisms nevertheless play a fundamental role in the balance of the planet. Their rich universe, which is only beginning to be understood by scientists, is the subject of a new exhibition, Invisible. The hidden life of microbes, visible at the Unil-CHUV Hand Museum in Lausanne.

“With this exhibition, we invite visitors to move away from anthropocentrism, which tends to place the human being at the center of the living world, to become aware of the multitude of microorganisms that surround us and whose existence eludes us, because we are too big to perceive them without instruments,” explains sociologist Olivier Glassey, director of the museum.
