The Vancouver Canucks traded forwards Ilya Mikheyev and Sam Lafferty along with a second-round pick in the 2027 draft to the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday for a fourth-round pick in the same draft.

Mikheyev, 29, had 31 points (11 goals, 20 assists) in 78 regular season games with Vancouver this season. He was shut out in 11 Stanley Cup playoff games as the Canucks were eliminated by the Edmonton Oilers in the second round of the Western Conference.

Signed by the Toronto Maple Leafs as an undrafted free agent on May 6, 2019, Mikheyev amassed 131 points (60 goals, 71 assists) in 270 regular season games over five seasons with the Maple Leafs and Canucks. He added four points (two goals, two assists) in 30 playoff games.

Lafferty, 29, has 24 points (13 goals, 11 assists) in 79 regular-season games this season. He has also been shut out in 11 playoff games.

The forward, who played for Chicago for two seasons between 2022 and 2023, could become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.

Selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the fourth round (113th overall) of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, Lafferty has 83 points (36 goals, 47 assists) in 289 regular-season games with the Canucks, Maple Leafs, Blackhawks and Penguins. He added three points (one goal, two assists) in 21 playoff games.
