Building on its success last summer, “Château en scène” returns for a second edition, from Tuesday July 16, 2024 to Sunday August 25, 2024, on the esplanade of Château Montbéliard Württemberg and offers a captivating musical and artistic program. This event, which is part of the Château site reconversion project, reveals the potential of the esplanade as a dynamic, festive and friendly space, offering exceptional cultural and artistic programming, both for Montbéliard residents and locals. tourists.

A rich program for all audiences

The City of Montbéliard offers a varied and free program, accessible to all. Concerts, plays or even circus acts, each show is chosen for its originality and artistic quality. The lively and captivating performances will transport visitors into a world of emotions and entertainment inviting them to live a new and unique experience.

A redeveloped esplanade

A place of entertainment and relaxation, the esplanade hosts the exhibition “Etienne Oehmichen and nature” until September 22, 2024. This exhibition, offered by the Château Museum, invites the public to discover the life and work of this inventor from the Pays de Montbéliard, passionate about nature and technology. For total immersion, visitors and spectators are also invited to be surprised by the monumental straw and sand sculptures, created by the artists Camille Bernard and Benoit Dutherage, also authors of the sand sculptures present last summer on the esplanade and inspired by the works of Paul-Elie Dubois. Benoit Duthérage, Occitanie, sculptor for around twenty years, has multiplied his creations in France and internationally. He comes to Montbéliard for the fourth time, after having decorated the Parc duprès-la-Rose in 2013, sculpted a decor for Christmas Lights in 2012, and paid tribute to Paul-Elie Dubois on the esplanade of the castle in 2023. Bernard Camille, from Haute-Savoie, is an artist, sculptor and illustrator, a key figure in monumental ice and snow sculpture in France. And also, a sand, straw and hay sculptor. The 3 sand sculptures and the 8 straw sculptures required 50 tonnes of sand, 7 days of production for the sand sculptures, with the intervention of the Green Spaces teams, and 6 days of production for the straw sculptures.

Summer decor and bright atmosphere

The buildings are also illuminated after dark, by the company TSE, creating a warm and picturesque atmosphere, perfect for summer evenings. The objective is to invite the public to take a new look at the heritage setting that is the esplanade, its buildings and its environment. The site also offers a secure play area for little ones. The development was carried out by the Green Spaces department. He also mobilized the Party and Ceremony Transport service as well as municipal electricians.

The esplanade welcomes visitors until September 22, every day, until 11:30 p.m. Free access.

Eating at La Terrasse du Château

Located on the esplanade of Château Montbéliard Württemberg, the ephemeral brasserie La Terrasse du Château invites young and old to share gourmet moments around traditional and authentic summer cuisine. All in a tavern atmosphere and an exceptional setting. Snacks and refreshments are also offered throughout the day. In addition, every Friday, the brewery organizes themed and dancing evenings, as well as live concerts. The 2023 edition of Château en Scène brought together just over 9,000 spectators who came to enjoy this artistic and musical experience. The edition took place from July 11 and August 22, 2023, and offered 13 meetings.
