Which spaces will host the 2024 Olympic Games in Marseille?

The Olympic Marina but not only that!

Of July 28 to August 8, 2024THE Sailing events will entirely take place in Marseille within the Olympic Marina. In the program : more than 330 athletes from 40 nationswill have to brave 12 days of sailing competition including 10 Olympic events (2 mixed and 6 sailing categories). The Marina is includes the Roucas Blanc nautical stadium which will be the starting point for the boats during the eventsas well as northern part of the Prado seaside park. Welcoming athletes and spectators will be done within these two spaces. The Olympic village will open on July 24 to Marseille residents and visitors, and will be free. Suspense still hangs over the Village’s activities but we already know Marseille’s food level is there! The famous Marseille chef Alexandra Mazzia will settle there during the events to delight the athletes with healthy and delicious recipes. Activities will also be offered for young and old, food trucks, fun and sporting activities?! Only a few weeks left before the City lifts the veil on the surprises contained in the famous Olympic Village.

A sporting and environmental issue

When Navy construction (côté Prado) City of Marseille had to juggle between sports redevelopment and environmental aspects, not an easy task when you have more than 7000m2 of building to build, as well as 17,000 m2 of outdoor spaces and 6 hectares of pool !

Vel’ at the heart of football events

Lthe City of Marseille is one of the 7 sites selected to host the women’s and men’s football competitions for the 2024 Olympics. Of July 24 to August 6our beloved Stade Vélodrome will host 10 matches of the Olympic football tournament, a quarter of which is a semi-final. The competition will open on July 24 with a France vs. United States match.

Marseille provides training locations

Who says Olympics necessarily means training! So far, we have never seen an athlete show up on the day of the competition without having taken a few hours of practice beforehand…That is why, 10 training sites have been selected in Marseille for 10 different disciplines. Pour sailing training : Nautical and Tourist Circle of Lacydon 7th, La Nautique 8th, Union Nautique Marseillaise 7th, Yachting Club Pointe Rouge 8th, ASPTT 8th. For Judo training: Bougainville Regional Dojo 15th. For the horse riding : Pastré Equestrian Center 8th, Jean Bouin Sports Complex, 8th. For gym and athletics training: Stade René Ancelin 9th, Stade Delort 8th. As you will have understood, Marseille also welcomes athletes from different disciplines which will not take place on its territory. So if you want to meet Olympic stars, you now know where to find them during their training! To be continued…
