Former player and president of the neighborhood club in Sète, he died this Tuesday, June 25 at the age of 79.

He marked the history of the Pointe Courte football club, both as a player and as president. Maurice Aymeric died on Tuesday June 25 at the age of 79. A memorable figure among Sète football fans, he took charge of the Pointe Courte Club Association in 1978, after his playing career, during which he notably won the Languedoc Cup.

“A righteous man, a man of his word”

“Maurice was a man who had his hand on his heart, and especially his pocket. He put a lot into the football club. He advertised for bars and restaurantstestifies Michel Brel, resident of Pointe Courte and connoisseur of the history of his neighborhood. He arrived, at the time, with players. He had a large network. He was nicknamed Nicollin for his size and business sense. Every third half, he paid for everything out of his own pocket. He was an upright man, a man of his word.” Maurice Aymeric managed at the time, in fact, to attract players like Michel Granier and Michel Chanuc (Montpellier), or even Jean-Louis Lakière (ex-PSG) to Sète.

A presidency that he directly linked to his activity as a fishmonger and shellfish farmer, near Loupian. This profession allowed him in particular to supply the Casino supermarkets in the south of France with shellfish, also sponsoring a certain AS Saint-Étienne. Which allowed him to regularly return to Sète with player jerseys from the Belle Epoque of Saint-Etienne…

Free Midday sends its sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of Maurice Aymeric.
