“How can you flower in a salt desert?” is the breathtaking spectacle of a flowering occurring in hostile lands. A piece of plastic beauty between captivating songs, catchy dances and colorful videos, performed by dancers, a musician and a singer with a powerful voice.
Sand turns into flowers
“Heading north from Cape Town is the town of Okiep and its township, where extreme poverty is set against a beautiful and haunting semi-desert landscape,” explains Robyn Orlin. “That’s where I had the pleasure of working and learning a lot with the Garage Dance Ensemble, created and directed by Alfred Hinkel and John Linden.”
This show demonstrates that where the earth seems unproductive, curiously life can be reborn. Like on the soil of Okiep which is covered, every year, with thousands of flowers by a happy miracle of biodiversity.
