A national movement is relayed this Tuesday in Guyana, at the call of professionals in the early childhood sector.
They announced it, they did it! Professionals grouped within the Territorial Union of Early Childhood of Guyana and the Departmental Federation of Early Childhood Care Structures of Guyana are joining the national movement “No babies in the locker”.
Associated with parents, these players in the sector intend to denounce “an early childhood policy deemed ineffective
for more than 15 years, this demonstration aims to be a cry of alarm about the dangers linked to the lack of
resources given to Young Child Care Establishments (ECJE) and the increasing deterioration of the child care sector early childhood beyond what is reasonable and bearable by managers and professionals.”
Payment delays and consequences
Asked about the problem with us, Solène Fleurival, President of UTEPE, indicates: “In Guyana, in addition to questioning the importance of early childhood, this territory which has one of the highest birth rates in France, we note that the situation is even more critical. We point out the obstacles in terms of operation and communication, generated by paying and control organizations (Town Halls, CAF, PMI, CTG).
At a time when the Caf is displaying a desire to create 600 nursery places by 2027, many establishments are on the verge of filing for bankruptcy, some have recently been closed, and many others risk disappearing, if no emergency measures are taken quickly.”
In the early childhood world, there is great concern, so its representatives are urgently calling for “ holding a meeting with all early childhood stakeholders who ensure the health, safety, well-being and development of children.”
According to the two local federations, 96% of establishments in Guyana representing nearly 1,900 places are closed this Tuesday while a march was organized from the crèche Son's word to Zephyr.
