Train traffic was interrupted yesterday on the Chambéry-Annecy line. The Rumilly sector was impacted but also Aix-les-Bains. Thunderstorms also hit Chablais in Haute-Savoie and French-speaking Switzerland. Geneva airport in particular was closed.

Trains stopped between Annecy and Aix-les-Bains

Rail traffic was interrupted between Aix-les-Bains and Annecy on Tuesday evening around 6 p.m. A tree fell on an overhead line causing a power supply failure. Train traffic was therefore cut in both directions. Consequence: travelers were invited to finish their journey on foot, following the departmental road to Rumilly station. Traffic was able to resume this Wednesday morning.

Haut-Chablais also impacted

In Haute-Savoie, it is the Haut-Chablais sector which was particularly affected by this stormy episode at the end of the day in Les Gets, Morzine, Avoriaz and Montriond. Departmental road 228 was cut in Morzine while a river overflowed in Les Gets, causing traffic difficulties on the RD 902.

Geneva: airspace closed 2 hours

Geneva airport had to close Tuesday evening due to bad weather. More precisely, it was a flood in the basement of the Skyguide control center which forced Cointrin to close the airspace for 2 hours. Some disruptions were recorded on the last flights of the evening and some flights may still be affected early Wednesday morning. Remember to check with your company before leaving.

Floods are also noted in the canton of Vaud, particularly in Morges.
