Two police officers were injured this Tuesday, June 25 in Valence (Drôme), following a head-on collision between their vehicle and that of a driver who refused to comply, CNEWS learned. They were hospitalized. The fugitive was arrested.

After refusing to comply, a driver was chased by motorcyclists from the municipal police, this Tuesday, June 25, in Valence, in the Drôme. While the man was intercepted near the Malissard road, the national police were contacted to provide reinforcement.

During this intervention, “a frontal collision between the police vehicle which came as reinforcement and that of the fugitive caused injuries to two officers out of the four present in the car”, indicated the Valence town hall in a press release.

According to our colleagues from France Bleu, the two police officers are suffering from back and pelvic pain for one, and in the head for the second. They were taken to hospital.

Driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol

For his part, the fugitive was arrested. According to information provided by the Valence town hall, the suspect “was probably under the influence of drugs and alcohol”. This is a man who is very unfavorably known to the police for being involved in various types of trafficking.

“I welcome the arrest of this repeat offender who I hope will finally be condemned with the greatest firmness, now that he is facing five new charges,” reacted the mayor of Valencia, Nicolas Daragon.

“It is not acceptable that such individuals can continue their atrocities without being prosecuted and punished in proportion to their actions,” he added.
