After the success of his teammate, the Eritrean Biniam Girmay, in Turin, Hugo Page experienced his first mountain stage on Tuesday July 2.

After an idyllic Monday, with the victory of his teammate, the Eritrean Biniam Girmay, in Turin, the Clévilliers rider Hugo Page, 22 years old, experienced his first mountain stage on Tuesday, a 4th stage arriving in France, in Valloire, and passing through the Galibier pass, located 20 km from the finish.

His account of the 3rd stage, won by teammate Biniam Girmay

After 139.6 km of racing, the puncher-sprinter finished 142nd, 34’27 behind the winner Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) and is now 1 h 11’28 (120th) behind the Slovenian, the new Yellow Jersey, overall. In a message yesterday evening, the Eurelien told us about his stage:

“We had targeted the intermediate sprint at km 19, so I stayed with Bini (Biniam Girmay) so that he could score points. He had a chance to take the green jersey. But Mads Pedersen (Lidl-Trek) broke away and I did a big relay before this intermediate sprint. Then I had to recover and get into the gruppetto for a “quiet” day. The feelings are good, not too tired at the moment. Two important days are coming up with two sprint opportunities.”

Hugo Page (bib number 174) hits the road again today for a 5th stage on the plains, between Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne and Saint-Vulbas (177.4 km).
