The concept of Comedy Club is being emulated among Montpellier establishments, including those where you least expect it.

In Montpellier, stand-up is everywhere. Bars and cafes are not the only establishments doing this. More atypical, tattoo parlors are also developing the concept. Like La Chapelle Tattoo Shop, rue Anatole-France in Montpellier.

Incongruous places

“It may seem strange to come and see comedians in a tattoo parlor, concedes Adrien, manager of the place. But comedy shows are often found in very unusual places. In Paris, one of the most popular comedy evenings takes place in a laundromat!”

Here, no reservations or gauges. As long as we’re in, we’re in! “We can accommodate up to 40 people if we squeeze in a little“, smiled Adrien.

For the moment, the format is being refined. “We have organized three evenings so far. We have not yet established a frequency”, he explains. From October, the meeting should become monthly.

“The atmosphere is very relaxed. The comedians can test their jokes freely”, underlines Adrien. The entertainment is provided by Baptiste Tinel, an experienced Montpellier comedian. As usual, entry is free and exit is free.

La Chapelle Tattoo Shop, 5 rue Anatole-France, 34000 Montpellier. Open Tuesday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
