It’s a beautiful story that only the love of football can provide. Former professional Romain Armand signed up with the Sancoins club which plays in departmental division 2.

Hastily left Bourges Foot 18 where he felt that the club had not kept its promises on the youth project that he planned to lead (read our April 8 edition) Romain Armand has just been appointed technical director in charge of the youth project of the Berrichonne association in Châteauroux. “Football was initially a pleasure for me and that’s what I want to instill in young people, a pleasure more than a job,” emphasizes Romain Armand. But the Armand family has not left the Bourdelins setting, which they particularly appreciate for their professional reconversion.

A fairy tale for the pleasure of football

“It was my postman who initially put me in contact with one of my neighbors Baptiste Degrange, young coach of Sancoins, and we quickly became friends. I now want to prioritize my family. Although I received offers from National, N2 and N3, I told Baptiste that if I played again, it would be at Sancoins. I only have one word and I will go have fun with them while giving them a helping hand depending on my availability,” said the striker. This Monday was therefore the officialization of this Sancoinnais fairy tale, far from the contracts that this 37-year-old former pro was able to sign in Montpellier, Clermont, Pau, Gazélec d’Ajaccio or even Paris FC. A signing just for fun and a return to amateur football which has given him so much. “This arrival will increase our ambitions and why not attract other players,” says Sancoinnais president Bruno Decreux who notably has in his squad Thibault Bouquet (passed to R1 by AS Saint-Amand and the Portuguese of Bourges), as well as Brice Villemont who also spent time as a youth player at Gazélec Ajaccio and who met Romain Armand during joint training with the pros.
