A driver refuses to comply and crashes into a police car, injuring two officers

A driver refusing to obey the municipal police officers of Valence (Drôme) deliberately collided head-on with a police vehicle, injuring two officers, before being arrested, indicates a source close to the case, confirming an information
from Dauphiné.

It was around 7 p.m. when two municipal police motorcyclists ordered the driver of a Mini Cooper to stop for a check in the Plan district. The motorist refuses and presses the accelerator.

Already known to the police

Further on, in the neighboring village of Malissard, the fugitive found himself facing a “PM” vehicle which was slowing down in order to arrest the suspect. But the driver does not stop and hits the screen-printed Peugeot 3008 head-on. Two police officers were injured: one suffered from back and pelvic pain, and the second suffered from head pain, said France Blue. Two other police officers are in shock. They were taken to hospital.

The driver, already known to the police, was taken into custody. Toxicological analyzes are underway to determine whether he was driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. An investigation was opened and entrusted to the Valence police station.

“Once again, they are the ones who went into contact, on the front line, with bravery and efficiency”reacted the mayor of Valencia, Nicolas Daragon, in a press release, emphasizing “exemplary courage” municipal police officers. The councilor
“welcomes the arrest of this repeat offender” et “hope that he will finally be condemned with the greatest firmness, now that he is facing five new charges”. Before concluding : “It is not tolerable that such individuals can continue their abuses without being prosecuted and punished commensurate with their actions”.
