A dance party created live by just three musicians and two loop stations used to layer tracks and manipulate acoustic and electronic sounds. Fanfare Station mixes the sounds of Brass Bands, electronics and rhythms from the Maghreb. Marzouk was inspired by the memory of his father and his fanfare, with Fanfara Station he wants to celebrate the epic musical cultures of the African diaspora and the connections between the Middle East and the Maghreb, Europe and the Americas. The instruments that accompany Marzouk’s voice are numerous: scascika, tar, bendir, darbouka and tabla percussion which intertwine with the trumpet, trombone, clarinet and the three Tunisian instruments: nay, mizued and ocra. The project brings together three musicians: Marzouk Mejri, Tunisian songwriter and multi-instrumentalist considered one of the best percussionists on the Italian scene. He was born into a family of musicians and his father was a famous darbouka player in Tebourba, a town about 30 km from Tunis. The trumpet style of the American Charles Ferris is based on the study of different world music traditions, in particular to carry out experiments in genres linked to the diaspora and African and Balkan traditions. In 2006 he began to explore classical and popular music and in Naples he met Marzouk and his ensemble. Marco Dalmasso, aka Ghiaccioli & Branzini is a DJ and producer. He lives in Florence and is well known for his very personal style, based on electronica and influences from blues, jazz and folk.
