Hostage taken in a pizzeria in Issy-les-Moulineaux: police custody of the suspect lifted, the man hospitalized under duress

Almost 24 hours after being taken into police custody, the man, suspected of having taken several people hostage in a restaurant in Issy-les-Moulineaux (Hauts-de-Seine), Saturday November 16, was hospitalized under duress, Sunday November 17 in the evening, the prosecutor's office informed Le Parisien, confirming information from BFMTV.

Saturday, around 1 p.m., the suspect took several people hostage in the restaurant “L’Olivier”, located in Issy-les-Moulineaux. This son of the manager locked himself in the establishment, armed with a knife, with four employees. They were released after three hours of captivity, around 4 p.m., and were not injured.

The suspect, a man in his forties, was arrested and taken into police custody immediately. But after 24 hours, his police custody was lifted on the evening of Sunday, November 17, “given his incompatibility,” said the Nanterre prosecutor's office. The man was “hospitalized in forced care,” he added.

According to information from Le Parisien, the suspect suffers from drug addiction and is very unfavorably known to the police “for cases of drugs, contempt, violence and rebellion”, several police sources reported. He would have called his mother to tell her that he was “in need of cocaine” and it was she who would have alerted the police, we learned.

An investigation into arrest, kidnapping and kidnapping has been opened. It was entrusted to the sub-directorate of the Hauts-de-Seine judicial police. “The investigation is therefore continuing while waiting to be able to hear” the suspect, indicated the Nanterre prosecutor's office.
