In addition to the brand new Michel-Russin site, Senonese elected officials, including former mayor André Chaussat, symbolically inaugurated the Gaston-Ramon hospital…. forty years after its opening, this Tuesday, June 25, 2024.

Former mayor of Sens (1979-1983), André Chaussat did not have the opportunity, at the beginning of the 1980s, to properly inaugurate the Gaston Ramon hospital. This protocol setback was repaired this Tuesday, June 25, 2024.

“The day after the election of François Mitterrand as President of the Republic, the political leaders of Yonne, mainly on the right, had strongly suggested to André Chaussat not to offer a platform to the new Minister of Health of the socialist government , a communist minister, said Paul-Antoine de Carville, current mayor. The Gaston-Ramon hospital was never really inaugurated. I wanted to offer André Chaussat the opportunity to inaugurate it with dignity.

A “one-day” move

The former city councilor, aged 94, unveiled an inaugural plaque, next to that of the Michel-Russin site. “It is an honor for me, after several decades of oblivion,” he declared. “I took over as chairman of the hospital board of directors in 1979. At that time, the new building was coming out. barely ground. It was under my presidency that the work was carried out until it was put into service. The enormous move on June 16, 1981, the result of careful preparation, took place without any incident, on just one occasion. day, thanks to numerous reinforcements: the fire rescue center, but also students from the police academy, stretcher bearers for a day, and army ambulances. The new operating theater was used the same day for one. birth and there was no death. Adding in a low voice, with malice: “we sent them to die elsewhere…”

On February 12, 1983, the new hospital was named Gaston Ramon. Apart from the presence, therefore, of numerous personalities.
