Concerts, parties, sport, cinema, art… The Martegal “Bel summer” is back, and it has even already started, with the music festival, last Friday.
As usual, until the end of August, you can stroll through the night markets on Wednesdays and Saturdays, dance in the evening on the Island (with Argentine tango as a new guest this year) during the Dances at Mirror, have a good time at the funfair in Ferrières and Carro…
At the media library, we can enjoy tales of all kinds, when “Art history and archaeology” will reveal Martegal’s heritage to everyone. We will find the Venetian evening and its nautical corso (capped with a pyromelodic show), the summer tour The Marseillaise (with this year a tribute to ABBA), and the Summer Fastiv’Halle, with, this year, IAM, Grands Corps Malade, Lacrim, Zazie…
Saint-Pierre, sardinades… something new!
Among all these invariable meetings, new developments should be noted. And it will start at the end of the week, on the occasion of the Sea Festival and St. Peter’s Day: in addition to the Pascale Aversano inter-company challenge, organized by the Venetian rowers (open to all), the mass of fishermen and the Saint-Pierre procession, this year, the Raffineurs collective, bringing together artists and artisans, has concocted a (very) rich poster.
Manga workshops, an exhibition, an introduction to computer-assisted music, an arts and crafts market, a storytelling nap, a concert, too: enough to breathe new life into this traditional festival!
Another novelty, the sardinades offered by the Vitrines Martégales association, on July 3 and August 28 in Jonquières; or the Cov-Tour 2k24, on August 14 at the Halle, a big evening dedicated to artists from the French Overseas Territories.
As part of the Fadas du monde, Quartiers Pop, which made its first attempt last year, will, for this real first edition, tour the neighborhoods in music, notably with Jo Corbeau, the Walkabout Sound System, Tsunami Banana or the Tin’Fa Trio…
In this Olympic year, it’s difficult to ignore sport, which always holds a good place in the “Bel Summer”. After the Martigues-Étang de Berre trophy and the Martigues-Carro race, which took place this weekend, see you tomorrow for the 22nd Ronde Vénitienne cycling race.
After the Pascale Aversano challenge this weekend, we will continue with the 22nd edition of the Sailing Regatta 13, then with the Night Round of the Blue Bridges, which will be accompanied by the City’s Cultural Department with five points of cultural events , enhancing the route. Finally, in August, fishing week will delight fishing enthusiasts.

The Fadas in Tholon
Since 2019, the Fadas du Monde have been hosting the entire summer of Martégal, and offering, as a highlight, a week of meetings, parties and concerts in their village. From July 13 to 21, the latter, prepared for months in a participatory manner, will take up residence at the Tholon nautical base, a little more sheltered from the wind which, last year, forced the cancellation of numerous events on the Place des Aires. A myriad of activities will be offered there, ranging from comic strips to water sports, on land and water! And of course, many concerts by groups from here and elsewhere.
Beyond the village, the Fadas also offer open-air cinema screenings throughout the summer, artist residencies interspersed with meetings and workshops, theater and concerts, again! Les fadas de musique offer nine evenings, from July 1 to August 30, which navigate between all styles, from the rap of the Istrians Traid and Yersa to the electro-raï of the Marseillais de Benzine, via the afro-latino of El Gato Negro, the ragga of Soom T, the blues of Nasser Ben Dadoo or the flamenca fusion of Éric Fernandez and Patchaï Reyes… The program is vast: we will return to it little by little, over the course of the summer!
