The A79 between Sazeret (Allier) and Digoin (Saône-et-Loire), 1 hour from Clermont-Ferrand and Roanne, is the first free-flow motorway in France since November 2022.

Concretely, tolls with barriers no longer physically exist.

Electronic toll collection, website, payment terminal and tobacconist

You have 72h to pay your tolls. Several payment solutions exist to pay for the journey:

But several payment hiccups have been reported. Since Monday June 24, A79 tolls can be paid at a tobacconist via the Nirio payment solution from Française des Jeux.

4,000 partner businesses

Nearly 4,000 partner businesses offer this service.

“We want to offer this third payment solution, complementary to the electronic toll badge and our sanef.com site. It is particularly intended for people who want to continue paying the cash toll or who are not very comfortable with digital tools”, indicates Arnaud Quémard, general manager of Sanef, in a press release reported by West France.

3,90 euros

As a reminder, since February 1, 2024, the A79 costs €3.90. For a Toulon-sur-Allier-Digoin route, it costs €2.90 and for Toulon-sur-Allier-Deux-Chaises (Sazeret): €1.

An environmental price modulation is applied depending on the type of vehicle, in particular Crit’Air 0 (100% electric).
