Behind the front of an old agricultural garage, in Lanouaille, hides the vast workshop of Xavier Le Normand. It is in the commune of Périgord Vert that the glass sculptor artist moved his ovens, his drums and his millstones three years ago, far from the frenetic Parisian life.

The artist extracts shapes from the burning mass which he then cuts cold. It plays on the translucency of the glass. He manufactures his material, starting from fusion, to transform it. “There is an alchemist side! », he observes. An alchemy that has a price, at a time of exploding costs of raw materials and energy. “I would say that I am a glass artist or sculptor”specifies Xavier Le Normand.

The artist will participate in the exhibition Exceptional moments, from June 28 to 30, in the former Banque de France in Périgueux. The demonstration questions the gesture of the hand and the transmutation of matter. Xavier Le Normand will present different creations.

The chosen theme, “Exceptional moments, of all materials and in all directions”, is a sensory proposition to create a sensual approach, awakening all the senses. Six artists were selected after a demanding selection: Catherine Dixceramist, Catia Estevesplastic artist, Xavier Le Normandglass sculptor, Jean-Michel Letellierpaper artist, Miki Nakamura, fiber artist, and Dora Stanczelporcelain.
