The artist exhibits his paintings at the Halle Tropisme from June 28 to August 4.

Olivier Kenneybrew, 36-year-old painter and muralist, is preparing to exhibit his works at the Halle Tropisme from June 28 to August 4. This event, titled “Close to the Apple Tree,” promises to immerse visitors in a world where art and nature meet and complement each other.

Olivier trained in landscaping for four years. “I did this training without knowing what it really was and where it would take me, and in the end it is something that has never ceased to impact my life “, he explains. This education shaped his thinking and continues to influence his artistic practice. By highlighting vegetation and occupying space, Olivier uses the skills acquired during his studies on a daily basis to enrich his works.

The artist often begins his creations with abstract and geometric shapes, which he then develops into complex narratives. By using oil paint, with its slow drying process, Olivier finds the necessary time for reflection and introspection, allowing his thoughts to wander and enrich his works. He likes to integrate symbolic elements to evoke his origins and his identity, but also to leave room for the random and the instinctive.

Olivier varies the supports of his works, moving from canvas to ceramics, depending on his inspirations and his experimental projects. “It is sometimes a matter of pursuing an experimental goal: designing the work in its entirety by choosing the wood, creating the volumes, the reliefs of the support which will later be part of the final work“, he explains. Each material brings a new dimension to his work, reflecting his Mediterranean influences. This exhibition invites visitors to explore the universe of Olivier Kenneybrew, where the notion of multiple identity is central. Between his French and African-American origins, he creates works that blur the boundaries between interior and exterior spaces.I now prefer the notion of space to that of landscape to talk about my painting “, he says, highlighting the evolution of his artistic work. To be discovered all summer.

Opening June 28 at 6 p.m. at the Halle tropisme. FREE ENTRANCE.
