In the water lifeguard bath

Experimental training for rescue swimmers in open and closed aquatic environments has just been completed. The seven interns all found jobs.

Respond to the problem of recruiting rescue swimmers in open (lakes, rivers) and closed (swimming pools, water sports centers, etc.) aquatic environments.

This was the objective of a training course lasting two and a half months for seven trainees (nine initially).

Patent in hand

The training was developed with professionals in the sector and with the Bragarde branch of Poinfor training.

With a total cost of 49,543 euros, it was financed by a grant of 39,453 euros from the Region as part of the Action tailor-made scheme and to the tune of 10,000 euros by the scheme from the Saint-Dizier Educational City which provides support to the public in the city’s Priority Neighborhoods (QPV).

It ended on June 14 with the passing of the National Water Safety and Rescue Certificate (Bnssa) for trainees.

Different teaching modules have been added to the trainees’ course in order to take into account the needs of employers and thus strengthen their employability: one in professional English, one on the different risks of water pollution, one on welcoming people with disabilities (carried out over one day at the Bois l’Abbesse association).

Training that leads to employment. –

Lasting 256 hours of training with 112 hours of internship in a company, the trainees, now graduated from Bnssa, now have an ideal profile to interest recruiters as they attested on June 13 before their tests .

“At the start of the training, my swimming level was low. But over the course of training, it developed. Last April, I was a trainee at the Bar/Aube swimming pool and for this summer, I landed a two-month position in Pontarlier”announces satisfied Sarah, the only young woman in the group of trainees.

Jobs at stake

Bruno found the training interesting. A man in professional retraining as a hairdresser for more than 40 years.

“Becoming a lifeguard will link me to my old job because contact with customers will always be present. In addition, I love sport. I actively practice running and swimming. For next September, I have landed a contract at the swimming pool of Ligny-en-Barrois “. Before training at Bnssa, Yohann worked in various professions in catering and commerce.

“This summer, I will work at the Barcelonnette municipal swimming pool and at the start of the school year in September, I will perhaps become an intern at the COSD swimming”.

The training called Bnssa Forma’sauvetage plus should be continued and undergo possible changes to meet the demand of local employers.

This summer, sixteen rescue swimmer positions are needed to monitor the beaches of Lac du Der.
