Managed for 20 years by Karine and Frédéric Augé, the Ferme du Forsdoff in Missillac (Loire-Atlantique) is famous for weddings.
But it is also an educational farm, which has recently been enhanced with a fun natural space, in which treasure hunts are organized for the youngest and even a escape game.
“Nature” games
Rarely short of ideas, the owners of Ferme du Forsdoff have chosen to offer two fun activities, always linked to nature and biodiversity.
Even if the start-up proved complicated – particularly due to Covid-19 – these two entertainments are now running at full capacity.
The treasure hunt, for children aged 4 to 8, is played with small chests scattered along a walking route and a series of puzzles to solve inside.
And theescape game, reserved for older children (from 8 years old) and adults, consists of a two-hour journey through nature, during which you must solve around ten puzzles to find the “magic phrase” which will allow you to escape from the game. It’s an experience to be had in teams.
Escape to the great outdoors
Designed off the beaten track, this new kind of “escape game” escapes the confined side of escape games classics.
“I have a lot of fun preparing and developing these games,” rejoices Karine.
“Since 2021, we have had more than 2,500 visitors to the educational farm. The feedback is positive, even from regulars.escape gamesome of whom came here from Carnac, in Morbihan.”
This success, hardly surprising given the beauty and calm that reign in this site pampered by two lovers of biodiversity, is also due to the “educational” content of the games, since visitors are entertained, while learning things!
An enchanting site
As the main activity of the estate remains the reception and accommodation of groups coming to celebrate a wedding, a large room with 120 seats – equipped with everything necessary for cooking – is available for rental.
It has a large adjoining covered terrace and a small room with 40 seats reserved for children, upstairs.
“Our guests appreciate the calm of the place and the freedom offered to them. We have no time restrictions or noise level,” explains Karine Augé.
The educational farm
As weddings occupy the site mainly on weekends, Karine and Frédéric have imagined activities during the week. Since 2019, they have welcomed groups (school or not), to introduce them to life on the farm, with two main themes: farm animals (ponies, donkeys, sheep, chickens, pigs), and biodiversity.
“No chemicals have been used on the site for over 40 years,” says Karine, “and biodiversity is developing naturally.
We can rejoice in the presence of more than 80 species of birds, but also more exotic families, such as newts or salamanders.”
And the guided tours are very popular, mainly on sunny days because the educational farm is closed to the public in winter.
Please note, however, that the domain does not welcome individuals.
