Geneva: stabbed 28 times in front of his son in Montbrillant

This summer, the judiciary briefly communicated the death of a man stabbed to death at his home in Montbrillant. The “Tribune de Genève” today reveals the particular circumstances of this tragedy, which occurred on July 21 in the early afternoon, behind Cornavin station.

According to our information, the victim, a 66-year-old father, received 28 stab wounds in front of his now traumatized son. The latter, a student in Geneva, was interviewed last month by investigators. Prosecutor Viviane Schenker interviewed the murderer at the beginning of October. This is a man who had lived with the deceased and his family for ten years.

A strange blank stare

Born in 1976, the defendant has worked for years as a landscaping assistant in the canton. When he arrives at this home, he quickly helps out with the cleaning and even ends up paying his share of the rent. He appreciates this welcoming couple. The current also flows well with the wire.

In 2022, the spouses separate. Some time before the tragedy, the defendant, who consumed cannabis, was going through a bad time. He suffers from serious sleep problems. The father, for his part, does not appreciate the “smoking” in the apartment.

On the day of the tragedy, the son, who was returning from a trip, meets the empty gaze of the man he considers his uncle. A cultured, manual and calm man, he says. But that day, the roommate appears strangely different. He suddenly shouts and claims that there is a kidnapping from the neighbors.

A hunting knife

Father and son try to reassure him and invite him to return to his room to calm down. A few minutes later, the defendant, who has a hunting knife, walks towards the patriarch. Very agitated, the man ended up stabbing him. The son goes to lock himself in his room and alerts the police as requested by the victim before dying.

Terrified, the son blocks his door with a chair and screams for help with all his might. The criminal tries to enter this room by leaning on the door which is not locked. The young man even prepares to jump out of the window of the apartment located on the first floor. But before that, the police arrive and arrest the murderer.

During the hearing, the defendant does not remember having seen the student on the day of the incident and even less of having killed the victim. He repeats that at the time, he heard voices and he slept little. In a state of confusion, the roommate mentions an argument and a kidnapping at 3^e floor.

Lawyer for the defendant, M^e Dina Bazarbachi reacts to our revelations: “My principal is probably schizophrenic, since he spent time at Belle Idée. He had neither the conscience nor the will to kill a friend.”

Representatives of the son of the deceased, M^es Laura Santonino and Camille Villa conclude: “Absolutely nothing in the victim’s behavior explains the defendant’s action and the surge of violence he demonstrated.”
