The Nyiragongo Football School in Goma has officially announced a “historic” partnership with the Génération Foot Academy in Senegal, a reference in football training in Africa.

Founded in 2000 by Mady Touré, Génération Foot is an internationally renowned Senegalese academy, famous for having trained world-class talents like Sadio Mané. In partnership with FC Metz in France for several years, the academy offers development and transfer opportunities to Europe to its players. This model inspired the Nyiragongo Football School in Goma in the DRC to enter into this partnership with the Senegalese academy. Planned for the next five years, the collaboration will cover several essential areas such as recruitment, training, mutual support (medical and social), transfers and player image management. The two academies will also organize technical exchanges and tournaments, providing resources and opportunities to young Congolese talents. The objective is to strengthen the quality of football training in the DRC and to reveal new talents on the international scene. By collaborating with Génération Foot, Nyiragongo hopes to inspire other similar initiatives across the continent, thus contributing to the growth of African football.

The president of Nyiragongo, Shabani Ramazani, expressed his pride in collaborating with Génération Foot, saluting founding president Mady Touré for his support and commitment. “I would like to send, on behalf of the Nyiragongo Youth training center and my own, my feelings of thanks and gratitude to the founding president of Génération Foot, Mr. Mady Touré, who gave his agreement in principle from our first meeting in Dakar,” he said.

Nyiragongo’s young players, such as Prophétie Balume and Alison Mumbere, expressed their enthusiasm. “We are happy to be in partnership with the Academy that trained Sadio Mané. My dream is to one day play in the Génération Foot academy and do better than Sadio, why not? » said Balume. Alison Mumbere added: “Thank you very much to Génération Foot for agreeing to collaborate with us. We were worried about our future, but now it’s a relief. » Jean de Dieu Baluku, technical coordinator of Nyiragongo, underlined the positive impact of this partnership: “This partnership relieves us, because for years, we have been training players who become discouraged after their training due to lack of prospects. Thank you very much to Génération Foot,” he said.
