A burglary occurred in La Chapelle-la-Reine (Seine-et-Marne) on October 30, around 4 p.m.. The criminals took several valuable itemsincluding computers, game consoles and jewelry.
The two individuals, aged 29 and 41, broke in by forcing a shutter then a window using a screwdriver. The alert was raised quickly by neighbors who witnessed the incident and were able to recognize the suspects. Video surveillance also made it possible to confirm their presence on the scene.
Neighbors’ vigilance paid off
After several days of investigationthe gendarmes located the suspects in Corbeil-Essonnes, where they were arrested on Wednesday November 13. Placed in police custody, both men denied the facts, refusing to explain their presence in the burglarized house.
A search resulted in the recovery of numerous computers, although those stolen from La Chapelle-la-Reine were not among the items seized. Investigators are continuing their investigations to establish a link with other similar cases.
The two suspects, who were not tried in immediate appearance, are summoned to appear before the Fontainebleau criminal court on January 27. This rapid result was welcomed by the police, who underline “the importance of neighbors’ vigilance in resolving this matter“. However, work continues to trace the origin of all the seized material.
