THE Clusette tunnel will be closed to traffic for three weeks, from Monday 1er July from the start of the day until Sunday evening July 21. Major sanitation works, impossible to carry out under traffic, are planned. Taking advantage of this closure, the bridges and roads department will also replace the road surface between Rochefort-Dessus and Fretereules and, in collaboration with the municipality, will redevelop the south side of the Brot-Dessous crossing.
After a little more than two years of work, the safety gallery of the Clusette tunnel is excavated and the interior lining concreted. The installation of electromechanical and safety equipment is underway, which will allow the gallery to open next October.
As this project comes to an end, the sanitation work on the tunnel itself will begin in July and will last approximately two years. They will consist of capturing the water seeping into the tunnel, replacing the pipes, renovating the roadway and the benches and replacing the safety equipment. During this work, the slow rising lane (in the direction of Neuchâtel) will be reserved for their execution in a first phase. During the second, the descending path will be closed. Two-way traffic will be maintained permanently in the tunnel at a speed of 60 km/h.
For safety reasons, major work on the tunnel vault and cladding must be carried out beforehand and without traffic. Given the scale of the work and the closing time limited to the strict minimum, part of these activities will take place at night. Thus, the road will be completely closed from 1er to July 21 between Bas-de-Rosière and Rochefort. A diversion route via La Tourne will be put in place.
Closure to traffic allows other work to be carried out
The bridges and roads department is taking advantage of the three weeks of closure to carry out other work to the east of the Clusette tunnel. The wearing course will be renewed between Rochefort-Dessus and Fretereules, the fire protection pipe which crosses the road will be renewed and the southern sidewalk redeveloped at Brot-Dessous. In addition, rock purging will be undertaken. All this work will take place during the day, with access to local residents guaranteed throughout the period. On July 20 and 21, during the finishing and marking work on the new coating, public transport will already be able to use the tunnel.
