Budget 2025: a congress of mayors which promises to be protesting
“The municipalities, fortunately! : this will be the theme of 106e congress of mayors and presidents of intercommunality, which will be held from November 19 to 21, Porte de Versailles in Paris. An event where, like every year, the Côte-d'Or will be very well represented with a delegation of “around a hundred mayors”, indicates Ludovic Rochette, president of AMF 21.
A gathering of mayors on November 19
Like the Conference of the Departments of France, chaired from November 13 to 15 by François Sauvadet in Angers, this congress of mayors will be placed under the sign of protest against the financial efforts requested from communities in the 2025 finance bill , currently being debated in Parliament. “A call for a gathering of mayors is planned for Tuesday, November 19 at 1:45 p.m. to display our cohesion and show our opposition to this finance bill,” reveals the mayor of Brognon, who does not hide his concerns .
“The problem is that we affect the most dynamic communities. If the Department is weakened, all the municipalities will suffer the consequences,” he warns.
“The worst consequence would be the increase in territorial inequalities”
“Some communities will get through this, but others are more fragile with populations in difficulty. The worst consequence of this finance bill would be the increase in territorial inequalities,” adds Ludovic Rochette, hoping for the presence of one or more ministers during congresses, or even Prime Minister Michel Barnier.
“We are probably reaching a threshold in our relations with the State,” he underlines. “We have a Prime Minister who knows the communities well, certain ministers too, but be careful not to disappoint elected officials too much, at the risk of consequences both on the economy and on the cohesion of the nation. »
