The number 1 value for money in Périgueux: the excellent Tourny counter by Nicolas Fauvez. This dynamic quadra, who worked with Vincent Arnould at the Vieux Logis in Trémolat, with Alain Gardillou at the Moulin du Roc in Champagnac-de-Belair as well as at La Guériniere in Gujan-Mestras, on the Arcachon basin, took up this city center brasserie where it offers clever, fresh and elaborate cuisine.

The daily menu offered on the blackboard is €21 and the à la carte menu served for lunch and dinner at €36. Snacked mullet fillets with crunchy broccoli in parsley oil and Noilly-Prat, warmed white asparagus from the Landes, with pomelo and grilled corn, and creamy smoked paprika are starters in terms of choice.

We also like the guinea fowl supreme with vin jaune and morels, served with a sort of celery semolina, plus mango, in mousseline and tapenade, like the hake steak with eggplant and miso, “kiwi-cucumber” pea salsa, wild garlic and ricotta. We drink regionally from the glass with the sinful Farcies du Puech by François-Xavier and Blandine Lesot in Bergerac.

And for desserts, roasted and milky peanuts with caramel and salted butter with dulce de leche candy, hibiscus glazed with Sichuan pepper on a light pistachio cream and caramelized praline like Périgord AOP strawberries combined with melting rhubarb , tangy and not very sweet, plus a vanilla cream and a parsley sorbet come through on their own. A beautiful address!
